I’M Benjamin

filmmaker, producer and distributor

Born 1982 in Leipzig, Benjamin studied Applied Media Sciences at the Technical University of Ilmenau and the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines (2003-2008). He has been working as a permanent author, director and producer for several years at Florianfilm GmbH in Cologne. Since 2011 he is working as a freelance director, camera man and producer for documentary films. During that time he has worked on several award winning documentaries and took part in further education like the masterschool documentary film at the Filmwerkstatt Münster, the TP2 Talentpool in Erfurt and the program “interactive media” at ifs Cologne.

Since 2016 he has been a partner and producer at Benda Film in Cologne and together with Daniel Huhn has been a scholarship holder at the NRW Media Foundation Center. Both of them took part in Documentary Campus Masterschool in 2017 with a feature length project. In the past years, Benjamin developed his interest in distribution strategies. 2018 he founded Glotzen Off to distribute Pablo Ben Yakov’s “Lord of the Toys”. They are currently producing Pablo’s and André Krummels next feature documentary “Goldhammer”.

Benjamin has directed several documentaries for TV (ZDF/arte, WDR) and made his feature length debut with the documentary "The Teacher's Country".

In recent years, Benjamin produced several documentary projects, such as "HeimatKino", "Mixtape" as well as the commercial project "Hammertime". The latest project is a feature documentary called "Goldhammer".

Distribution has become an essential and challenging part of film production as today's viewing habits change and traditional structures are collapsing. Benjamin is taking care of distribution of Benda Film's projects as well as productions like "Lord of the Toys".
